TRENTON Technology Introduces TML Graphics-Class SHB
Trenton's New TML SHB Features the Intel® Core Duo Processor, Intel® 945G Chipset and the Intel® ICH7R I/O Controller Hub Atlanta, GA – Trenton’s TML graphics-class system host board (SHB) uses the Intel® Core Duo, Intel® Core Solo and Intel® Celeron® M processor options to deliver superior system performance per watt. These processor options make a low-profile passive cooling solution possible, thereby enabling small form factor chassis designs. The Intel® Core Duo processor offers key features such as dual-core technology, a 667MHz front side bus, 2MB of L2 cache and Enhanced Intel SpeedStep® Technology. The Intel® Core Duo T2500 processor, the Intel® 945G and the Intel® ICH7R offered on the TML also feature long-life product support from Intel®. The Intel® 945G and the Intel® ICH7R component combination on the TML enables dual Gigabit Ethernet ports, eight USB 2.0 ports and a 4GB, dual-channel DDR2-667 memory interface. Other features include dual SATA2 drive capability supported by the Intel® ICH7R, featuring Intel® Matrix Storage Technology which directly supports RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10 implementations. PCI Express (PCIe) links designed into the TML support the high-speed PCI Express interface methodology between the SHB and backplane defined in the PICMG 1.3 industry standard. The TML’s graphics-class PCIe link configuration supports PCI Express graphics and video cards, including the latest ADD2 cards. Other types of PCI Express cards, as well as 32-bit/33MHz PCI option cards, are supported directly by the TML on a PICMG® 1.3 compatible backplane. The TML also supports 64-bit PCI and PCI-X cards on backplanes with the appropriate PCI Express-to-PCI-X bridge chip technology. “Trenton’s TML system host board provides the answer to the heat vs. processor performance trade-off that our customers deal with every day”, said Dwight Justice, Trenton’s Vice President of Sales. “The SHB’s low-profile cooling solution and the combination of the Intel® Core Duo Processor, the Intel® 945G Chipset and the Intel® ICH7R I/O controller provide our TML board customers with a critical system component designed to meet the challenges of a wide variety of applications.” Other TML Features The TML’s FCPGA6 socket supports the Intel® Core Duo, Intel® Core Solo and Intel® Celeron® M processor options. The front side bus on the TML supports 533MHz and 667MHz processor options. The two DDR2 DIMM sockets on the TML have a maximum capacity of 4GB. The dual channel memory interface supports non-ECC PC2-3200, PC2-4200 or PC2-5400 DIMMs. The x16 PCI Express and x4 links on edge connectors A and B of the TML support PCI Express video and graphics cards, ADD2 cards and general purpose option cards on a PICMG 1.3 compatible backplane. Trenton TML customers can elect to use the internal video connection on the SHB instead of a card connected to the x16 PCI Express link. This video option is driven by the chipset’s Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 950. Standard TML configurations support two 10/100/1000Base-T Ethernet LAN ports and two USB 2.0 ports on the I/O bracket of the TML. An additional 10/100Base-T Ethernet port and two USB ports are routed to the SHB’s edge connector C for optional use on a PICMG 1.3 compatible backplane. Two additional USB ports can also be routed to the backplane with a factory build option. The TML supports the optional edge connector D defined in the PICMG 1.3 industry standard. Edge connector D provides a 32-bit/33MHz PCI interface to the backplane to support legacy 32-bit/33MHz PCI option card slots and PCI-to-ISA bridge chips. This capability is useful when it is cost prohibitive to design out an older or purpose-built ISA option card. Pricing and Availability The TML is available now with a list price of $1,425. Pricing and processor speed availability varies. Contact Trenton for the latest information on pricing discounts as well as volume and OEM purchase programs.
