TRENTON Technology Introduces the CP16 CompactPCI®
Single Board Computer Featuring PICMG® 2.16 Support and the Intel®
Pentium® M Processor
Trenton's CP16 Uses the Intel® Pentium® M Processor and the Intel E7501 Chipset to Support Ethernet Packet Switching, Hot Swap and IPMI System Management Requirements in CompactPCI® Applications. Atlanta, GA - TRENTON Technology Inc. announces its CP16 single board computer with the Intel® Pentium® M processor and featuring the Intel® E7501 chipset. Trenton's CP16 provides maximum processing performance with minimum heat dissipation due to the Intel Pentium M processor's microarchitecture and the power management features of Enhanced Intel SpeedStep® technology. The CP16 has many key features, including the ability to turn off the PCI bus to the backplane, which makes the module ideal for Ethernet-only CompactPCI® or server blade applications. Other CP16 features include a front-access PMC slot, CompactFlash or IDE Microdrive® local storage plug-in options, dual 10/100/1000Base-T Ethernet ports, Gigabit Ethernet backplane support, and provisions for up to a 2GB plug-in DDR200/266 memory DIMM. The optional Rear Transition Module, RTM25, is available with or without dual Ultra320 SCSI interfaces and provides rear access to the SBC's I/O and status LEDs. Versatility is one of the hallmarks of the CP16. Compliance with a number of PICMG® specifications including Packet Switching Backplane (PICMG 2.16), Hot Swap (PICMG 2.1 and 2.12) and Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI, PICMG 2.9), local storage options and the CompactPCI bus switch enable the CP16 to excel in a wide variety of either CompactPCI or server blade computing applications. "The CP16 from Trenton applies the technical advances designed into the Intel Pentium M processor and Intel E7501 chipset to provide a greater level of versatility and functionality in CompactPCI and server blade applications," said Ton Steenman, general manager, Embedded Intel Architecture Division. "The design features which Intel built into the Intel Pentium M processor provide high performance while meeting thermal targets associated with CompactPCI. This allows Trenton Technology to offer the CP16 single board computer for use in very demanding applications." On-Board Features The CP16 is available at speeds of 1.8GHz and 1.6GHz. The Intel E7501 chipset supports Intel's Hub Link interface technology for optimum data exchanges between the processor, system memory, I/O controller, Ethernet networks and the optional Ultra320 SCSI interfaces. The CP16's DDR200/266 memory interface supports up to 2GB of system memory and is a single-channel memory interface that supports a plug-in PC1600 or PC2100 DIMM module. Enhanced video processing on the CP16 is achieved using an ATI® Mobility Radeon video memory controller with a video memory capacity of 16MB which supports pixel resolutions up to UXGA (1600 x 1200). The CP16 has many other features built in, including hardware monitoring, two serial ports, dual EIDE Ultra ATA/100 interfaces, four USB ports, a watchdog timer and PS/2 mouse, keyboard and floppy drive interfaces.
